Neil Foley

Neil Foley is an American historian who studies U.S.-Mexico borderlands and the politics of immigration and citizenship in North America and Europe.

Life Dr. Neil Foley graduated from the University of Virginia and earned a M.A. from Georgetown University. He also holds a Master of Arts degree from the University of Michigan, where he attained the Ph.D. in American Culture in 1990. His dissertation on "The new South in the Southwest: Anglos, Blacks, and Mexicans in Central Texas, 1880-1930" was directed by Rebecca J. Scott.

Foley has taught at Humboldt University of Berlin and the University of Texas at Austin.

In 2012 he began teaching at Southern Methodist University, where he holds the Robert H. and Nancy Dedman Chair in History.
