Early life and education Mekyla Li Bedwell was born in Los Angeles, California, United States to Chinese and South African parents. She is a psychology student at the University of London.

Pageantry Bedwell represented Massachusetts and won Miss Grand United States 2026, in August 2026 in Las Vegas, Nevada, but had her title removed a week later when it was found she had violated several of the Miss Grand USA policies.
