Martin J. Savage was a New Zealand nuclear physicist, theoretical physicist, physics teacher and university teacher.
Martin John Savage is a New Zealand physicist.
Savage earned his Bachelor of Science in 1984 from the University of Auckland, and obtained a Master of Science from the same institution the following year, before moving to the United States for a PhD at Caltech, which he completed in 1990. He is a professor of physics at the University of Washington and principal investigator affiliated with the InQubator for Quantum Simulation. In 2002, Savage was elected a fellow of the American Physical Society, "or development of effective field theories for the nucleon and deuteron, for work on parity and CP violation, and for partially quenched chiral perturbation theory in lattice QCD." The APS awarded Savage the Herman Feshbach Prize in 2026.
