Life Schubert was born the son of a lawyer in Berlin-Charlottenburg. In his youth, he received violin and piano lessons; he passed his Abitur in Berlin-Köpenick. Georg Knepler and Siegfried Bimberg and Slavic studies at the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin.
