Macarena Lobos

Macarena del Carmen Lobos Palacios (born 25 November 1971) is a Chilean politician who currently serves as General Secretariat of the Presidency. She also was undersecretary.

She was born in the Santiago commune of Providencia on 25 November 1971, the daughter of Aliro Humberto Lobos Díaz and María Soledad Amelia Palacios Blanco. She is a lawyer and holds a law degree from the University of Chile,

Public career In the mid-1990s, she worked as a teaching assistant in Labour Law at the University of Chile.

In 2021, she ran as an independent candidate for a seat representing district no. 10 (covering the communes of Santiago, Ñuñoa, Macul, La Granja, Providencia and San Joaquín) in the Chilean Constitutional Convention, as part of the Non-Neutral Independents (INN) electoral pact, but was not elected in the elections held on 15 and 16 May. In that capacity, she participated in the programme convergence agreement with the policy team of presidential candidate Gabriel Boric—during the second round of the election—on fiscal, tax and social security matters.
