Early life Born in London, Smith left school at age 15 to work as an electrician at Shepperton Studios.
Career Smith began as the chief electrician on Stanley Kubrick's Barry Lyndon (1975).
In addition to cinematography, Smith also made his directing debut with the 2015 film Trafficker, which he also wrote and produced.
