Kim Murphy

Kim Murphy (born, August 26, 1955) is an American journalist who works for the New York Times. She won the Pulitzer Prize in 2005 for International Reporting.

Early years and education Murphy was born in 1955 in Indianapolis, Indiana. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in 1977 from Minot State University.

Career Murphy worked as an assistant editor for The North Biloxian in 1973, as a reporter for the Minot Daily News in 1978, and then as a reporter and later the assistant metro editor of the Orange County Register starting in 1982. She became the Moscow Bureau Chief in 1983 and national editor in 2013.

Awards Murphy won the Pulitzer Prize in 2005 for International Reporting four times, and the Society of Professional Journalists, Delta Chi, foreign correspondence.
