About Kiliwi Nwachukwu

Lived 1931 – 1992 (aged 60–61).

Uzoma Nwaozuzu Nwachukwu commonly known as Kiliwi Nwachukwu, Killiwi Nwachukwu or Killiwe Nwachukwu was a Nigerian fighter of Igbo descent. He was considered the Nigerian version of Superman. With his raw strength, he broke coconuts on his head, lifted cars with his hands, and could carry up to 10 adult men on his shoulders. he displayed his skills in different schools as a show and was widely regarded as the strongest man in Africa.

Life Nwachukwu was born in 1931 in Mbaitolu in today's Imo state. He was known for his enormous strength which earned him the name "Killi-we". He married six wives and died on 30 October 1992. Origin of nickname

The nickname "Killi-we" originated from an incident in which Nwachukwu, who worked as a goods carrier using a wooden two-wheeled truck, was refused payment by a customer after delivering merchandise from a market to his home. A fight broke out, during which Nwachukwu pinned the man to the ground. The man's wife intervened with a wooden pestle, but Nwachukwu snatched it from her and lifted her onto her husband. Pinned and helpless, she cried out "Killi we Nwachukwu!" meaning "Nwachukwu, kill us!" in Igbo. The phrase became his enduring nickname.

Feats of strength

For more than two decades, Nwachukwu toured Nigeria performing feats of strength at schools, marketplaces, village squares and festivals, charging a fee for audiences to watch him. His documented feats included lifting buses, having cement blocks crushed on his head, allowing cars to drive over his body, dragging a vehicle with a rope attached to his teeth, using his teeth to carry bags of cement, hammering nails with his bare hands, breaking coconuts on his head, and supporting six people standing on his body simultaneously.

Death

Prior to his death, Nwachukwu experienced rhythmic muscle movements that later developed into muscle stiffness, which he attributed to his retirement from physical performance. He resorted to traditional medical treatment and died in his sleep on 31 October 1992, aged 61.
