is a Japanese politician elected as the governor of Nagasaki Prefecture in the 2026 Nagasaki gubernatorial election.
Early life Hirata graduated from Nagasaki Minami High School and then attended University of Tokyo. He graduated from the Faculty of Law in 1991 and joined the Ministry of Construction the same year.
Political career He was appointed as a vice-governor for Nagasaki Prefecture in by Hōdō Nakamura in 2018 until 2022. He ran for election in 2026 as an independent and defeated the incumbent Kengo Oishi.
