Kelvin

Kelvin Ibruvwe (also known as Kelvin Oniarah or simply Kelvin) is a Nigerian who was identified by Nigerian security agencies as a suspected kidnapping kingpin operating in the Niger Delta region. He came to national attention in 2013 following his arrest by a joint operation involving the Nigerian Army and the Department of State Services (DSS).

He is from Kokori in Ethiope East Local Government Area of Delta State. Contemporary news reports associated him with a group known as the Liberation Movement of the Urhobo People (LIMUP), which publicly demanded greater development of oil-producing communities in the Niger Delta.

Arrest On 25 September 2013, Ibruvwe was arrested in Port Harcourt by a joint security team comprising personnel of the Nigerian Army and the Department of State Services after being declared wanted over a series of high-profile kidnapping cases in the Niger Delta.

Following his arrest, Nigerian authorities alleged that he led a criminal network responsible for kidnappings, armed robbery and attacks on security personnel across Delta and neighbouring states.

In October 2013, Ibruvwe and another member of LIMUP filed a suit against the Department of State Services, alleging unlawful detention and denying involvement in the criminal allegations made against them.
