John MacMurrayJohn Stewart Wright MacMurray (30 December 1958 – 20 August 2006) was a Canadian musician from Saint John, New Brunswick, who held the position of principal trumpet with the Hallé Orchestra of Great Britain from 1986 to 2006. He died at the age of 47 after being diagnosed with cancer. MacMurray began playing the trumpet at the age of 15. Bruce Holder recruited him to play in the Third Field Artillery Band, after watching him play at a school performance. At that time, he was the youngest member of the band.
