Jesse Derry

Jesse Shaun Derry (born 30 June 2007) is an English professional footballer who plays as a winger for Primeira Liga club Sporting CP, on loan from Premier League club Chelsea, and the England under-19 national team.

Club career Derry was in the youth academy at Crystal Palace and was named Palace’s U-18s player of the season in 2023–24 after scoring 16 goals in 22 appearances. He was offered a new contract by the club, prior to joining Chelsea in 2025 on a four-year contract.

As a second-half substitute, Derry debuted for Chelsea on 13 February 2026 during the 4–0 victory against Hull City in the FA Cup fourth round. A few months later, on 4 May, he made his debut in the Premier League, starting against Nottingham Forest. However, he was forced off the field before half-time after suffering a head injury in a head-on-head collision with Zach Abbott and was later hospitalised as a precaution.

On 8 July 2026, Derry signed a six-year contract extension with Chelsea. He instantly joined Primeira Liga club Sporting CP on a season-long loan.

International career Derry is an England youth international, having featured at under-17 and under-18 level.

Personal life He is the son of football manager and former player Shaun Derry.
