Jennifer R. Niebyl

Jennifer R. Niebyl (born 1942) is a Canadian obstetrics and gynaecology researcher and professor. She is known for her contributions to the understanding of drug use during pregnancy and lactation.

Early life and education Niebyl was born in 1942 in Montreal, Quebec.

Niebyl earned a Bachelor of Science in nursing from McGill University. She then attended the Yale University School of Medicine, where she received her MD in 1967 and specialized in obstetrics and gynaecology. Niebyl has said that she studied medicine in order to "be in charge of the decision-making process for the health care of women."

Niebyl is a professor at the Roy J. and Lucille A. Carver College of Medicine, University of Iowa, where she also serves as chair of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Obstetrics: Normal and Problem Pregnancies (1988, co-editor)
