Career A merchant and farmer, He was elected as a Republican and served as a member of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives, representing Chester County from 1858 to 1860. He was postmaster of Warren Tavern (later Malvern). and later served as postmaster of Atglen from 1889 to 1893.
