Ian MacGillivray was a gynecologist.
Ian MacGillivray (25 October 1920 – 18 June 2021) was a Scottish doctor who was a professor of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the University of Aberdeen and president of the International Society for Twin Studies.
Early life MacGillivray was born in Kirkintilloch, Dunbartonshire in October 1920. He was educated at the Leven Academy, Alexandria, West Dunbartonshire. He attended the University of Glasgow and graduated with a medical degree in 1944. He gained an MD with commendation from the University of Glasgow in 1953. In 1976, he was appointed as president of the International Society for the Study of Hypertension in Pregnancy.
Awards and honours The MacGillivray Academic Centre, based within the Aberdeen Maternity Hospital opened on 16 November 1999.
