About Hadley Johnson Alley

Hadley Johnson Alley was an American soldier, sheriff, and lawyer who served in the American Civil War and as Sheriff of Mercer County, Missouri.

Life Hadley Alley was born in 1833 to William Houston Alley (1806–1871) and Mary Lou Jones (1811–1882). He commanded Company I, 4th Missouri Provisional Regiment, East Missouri Militia during the American Civil War. He was Sheriff of Mercer County, Missouri from 1865 to 1869. He was admitted to the bar in 1868 and began practicing law in 1869. He died in 1903, aged 70.
