Gregory Markkanen

Gregory John Markkanen (born March 7, 1958) is a Republican politician. He has been serving as a member of the Michigan House of Representatives since 2019, representing the 110th district.

Political career Markkanen first ran for state representative in 2016 for the 110th district, but was defeated by the Democratic incumbent Scott Dianda. Following Dianda's retirement, he ran for the seat in 2018, narrowly defeating Democratic candidate Ken Summers.

Markkanen is pro-life and has repeatedly voted against protecting and furthering abortion rights in Michigan.

Personal life Markkanen holds a professional teaching certificate from the state of Michigan, and taught high school civics, history and geography for Baraga Area Schools. Markkanen is an Endowed Life Member of the National Rifle Association of America.
