About Ganesh Prasad Bhutt

Ganesh Prasad Bhutt or G. P Bhutt (born: 22 September 1899 - ?) was an Indian Judge who served as the 2nd Chief Justice of the Madhya Pradesh High Court.

Judicial career Bhutt joined as an advocate in Jabalpur Bar in 1922. In 1927 he was appointed subordinate Judge at Raipur. Bhutt also served as District and Sessions judge at Nagpur. Later he was transferred to the Ministry of Defence. In 1953, he became puisne judge of the Nagpur High Court. On 13 December 1958, he succeeded M. Hidayatullah as the Chief Justice after Justice Hidayatullah was elevated to the Supreme Court of India. Bhutt retired on 22 September 1959. After the retirment he was elected as the Vice Chancellor of University of Saugar.
