Eystein S. Husebye

Eystein Husebye (9 February 1937 – 10 November 2025) is a Norwegian seismologist.

He was born in Sulitjelma. He took the cand.real. degree at the University of Bergen in 1962, was a research fellow at the University of Bergen, Uppsala University and MIT, and took PhD degrees at the Uppsala University in 1972 and the University of Oslo in 1976.

He worked as researcher at NORSAR from 1968 to 1993 and adjunct professor at the University of Oslo from 1979 to 1990. He was then a professor of seismology at the University of Bergen from 1979 to his retirement. He is a member of the Norwegian Academy of Science and Letters.

Husebye died in November 2025 in Bergen.
