Eeshna Gupta

Eeshna Gupta is an Indian politician and social activist based in New Delhi. In 2025, she contested the Municipal Corporation of Delhi by-election from the Greater Kailash ward as a Aam Aadmi Party candidate.

Since 2026, Gupta has served as co-in-charge of the Association of Students for Alternative Politics (ASAP), Delhi, a student wing of the Aam Aadmi Party launched by Arvind Kejriwal in May 2025. She began volunteering on civic and social issues as a teenager.

Career

Civic and social work

Before contesting the 2025 by-election, Gupta was involved in civic initiatives in South Delhi, including social work in slums, collaboration with resident welfare associations and market associations, participation in cleanliness drives, and engagement with local sanitation issues.

2025 MCD by-election candidacy In November 2025, the Aam Aadmi Party nominated Gupta as its candidate for the Greater Kailash ward in the Municipal Corporation of Delhi by-election. She contested against BJP candidate Anjum Mandal and Congress candidate Shikha Kapur.

During the campaign, Gupta proposed a mobile application called the "GK Works App" for tracking civic complaints and said that complaints should ordinarily be resolved within 24 hours. She also proposed community facilities including a residents' club, a senior citizens' centre and sports amenities. Gupta said her age and gender had led some people to underestimate her as a candidate, and argued that younger political representatives could encourage greater participation among first-time voters.
