Di Reed

Di Reed (born April 13, 1968) is American singer and songwriter. Reed rose to fame in the early 1990s as the lead singer of Jade, one of the earliest music acts in the new jack swing genre.

Following the group's disbandment, Reed became a in-demand session singer and background vocalist.

Career 1992–1995: Early career and Jade In May 1992, Reed was invited by American music producer Vassal Benford to join girl group Jade. The group released their debut album, Jade to the Max, on November 17, 1992, on Giant Records. The album peaked at number fifty-six on the Billboard 200 and sold over a million copies in the United States alone, earning a platinum certification by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). Jade to the Max spawned two US-Top 20 singles: "I Wanna Love You" and "Don't Walk Away".

On September 27, 1994, they released their second studio album Mind, Body & Song, which peaked at number eighty on the Billboard 200 and number two on the US Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums. The album produced the singles "5-4-3-2 (Yo! Time Is Up)" and "Every Day of the Week", the latter of which peaked at number twenty on the Billboard Hot 100 and number fifteen on the US Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart. By March 1995, Mind, Body & Song had sold over a half of million copies in United States, earning a gold certification from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). Although Reed reached out to Marshall and Kelly to resolve the matter, Marshall and Kelly continued performing with Holloway. In December 2021, Reed sued Marshall, Kelly, and Holloway for dilution and infringement of the "Jade" service mark, unfair competition through false designation of origin and false advertising; as well as violations of Texas statutory and common law. The court ruled in Marshall and Kelly's favor as emphasized that "co-owners have the right to use the mark as they please, and a valid licensee of one co-owner cannot be liable to another co-owner for infringement."

In September 2021, Reed joined SWV on-stage in an impromptu performance of "Don't Walk Away" during their show in Cleveland. In 2023, Di Reed co-headlined the LGNDS Tour with Montell Jordan in Sweden.
