Daniel Tate

Daniel Tate (born 1980) is a Canadian author, music historian and municipal political activist in Toronto. He is the founder and executive director of IntegrityTO, a civic advocacy group active in Toronto municipal politics.

In July 2026, Tate registered as a candidate for Toronto City Council in Ward 13 Toronto Centre in the 2026 Toronto municipal election, challenging incumbent councillor Chris Moise.

IntegrityTO Tate founded IntegrityTO following Toronto City Council's 2023 decision to rename Yonge–Dundas Square to Sankofa Square. Its use of AI-generated material formed part of wider criticism of the group's social-media tactics, including concerns about the tone and presentation of its posts.

Tate defended IntegrityTO's use of AI-generated political material, comparing it to caricatures in political cartoons and arguing that the group's videos were rendered in a way that made their artificial nature apparent.

2026 municipal election On July 22, 2026, Tate announced his intention to register as a candidate for Ward 13, Toronto Centre, in the 2026 municipal election, in an attempt to unseat Moise who is running for re-election in the ward.

During that period, Tate began saving concert flyers and other promotional material rather than discarding them after shows. A collection stored at his parents' home later became the basis of The Flyer Vault, an Instagram project he launched in 2015. Tate subsequently expanded the collection beyond material he had personally accumulated by researching at the City of Toronto Archives, the Toronto Reference Library and newspaper archives.
