Career After his doctoral studies, he worked as a house officer with the Nuffield Department of Medicine at the John Radcliffe Hospital. investigating immunity to major tropical diseases,

Later, he became a professor of vaccine immunology at the University of Birmingham marketed as TYPHIBEV.

Following the acquisition of Novartis Vaccines by GSK Plc in 2015, he returned to the University of Oxford to work at the Jenner Institute. and was awarded an MRC Senior Clinical Research Fellowship. In 2017, he joined the Gates Foundation as a senior program officer for bacterial vaccines in the enterics, diagnostics and genomic epidemiology team. In this role, he led product development portfolios for Shigella and Salmonella vaccines.

In 2024, he became vice president for Vaccine Clinical Research at Pfizer, responsible for Pfizer's pneumococcal and meningococcal vaccine clinical franchises.
