Beran Bertuğ

Beran Bertuğ (born 6 October 1956) is a Cypriot politician who served as the of the Gazimağusa District of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. She is the first woman to hold this post.

Biography Born on 6 October 1956 in Famagusta, Cyprus, Bertuğ finished the city's established Gazi Primary School and Famagusta Namık Kemal High School.

Following her secondary education in Cyprus, she pursued her higher education in İzmir, Turkey, where she finished university with a degree in chemical engineering.

In April 2009, Bertuğ was appointed as the first female of Famagusta, a role which she held until 8 November 2013. She also became the first Cypriot woman to hold this role. Bertuğ is married and is a mother of two.
