Bea González

Beatriz González Fernández (born 23 November 2001), known as Bea González, is a Spanish professional padel player who plays on the left side (revés).

González entered the professional circuit in 2016 at the age of 14, its youngest player, and in 2020 became the youngest winner of a World Padel Tour (WPT) title, aged 18. In 2023, playing with the Argentine Delfina Brea, she won eight titles in one season and ended the year as the world No. 2 pair. In 2025, with Claudia Fernández, she won six titles, and in 2026 she began a partnership with Paula Josemaría.

Early life

González was born in Málaga on 23 November 2001 and comes from El Palo, a coastal district of the city from which her nickname "La Perla de El Palo" (The Pearl of El Palo) is taken. She first picked up a racket at the age of four, hitting a ball against a wall while her father played with friends, and began lessons at eight. In 2017 she won the Spanish under-18 championship and a junior world team title in her category, and in 2018 she began partnering the experienced Argentine Cata Tenorio, then No. 6 in the WPT ranking. She is the granddaughter of Antonio González Álvarez, "Chuzo", a footballer who played for Málaga and Atlético Madrid.

2019: Delfina Brea

González first played with Delfina Brea in the final stretch of 2019; in eight tournaments the pair won the Paris and San Javier Challengers and the Spanish under-23 championship, and reached the semifinals of the WPT Master Final.

2020–2022: Marta Ortega

Playing with Marta Ortega, González won the Vuelve a Madrid Open in July 2020, beating Patricia Llaguno and Elisabeth Amatriaín 5-7, 6-1, 6-1 in the final; at 18 she became the youngest winner of a WPT title, a record she took from Ortega herself. In 2022 the pair won four titles, ending the season at the Amsterdam Open, where they beat the world No. 1 pair, Ariana Sánchez and Paula Josemaría, 6-4, 2-6, 6-1.

2023–2024: Delfina Brea

The split with Ortega was announced in March 2023 and, from the Granada Open in April, González reunited with Brea. The new pair won eight titles before the end of the year, among them a first Premier Padel title at the Madrid P1, where they beat the No. 1 pair, Sánchez and Josemaría, 6-7, 7-6, 7-6 in a final of almost three and a half hours. They closed the season at the Barcelona Master Final, the last tournament in WPT history, beating Aranzazu Osoro and Jessica Castelló 6-4, 6-1; at 22 years and 23 days, González was the youngest Master Final winner, and the pair ended the year as the world No. 2.

González and Brea opened 2024 with three consecutive Premier Padel titles, in Puerto Cabello, Brussels and Seville, where they defeated Sánchez and Josemaría 6-1, 6-1 in the final. That week González overtook Gemma Triay to reach No. 3 in the FIP ranking, in May 2024.

The rest of the season was interrupted by injuries. In June 2024 González was diagnosed with a superficial thrombus in her left foot and missed the Rome Major. In July a pectoral tear forced her to withdraw before the semifinal of the Málaga P1, her home tournament, and in September, in her first tournament back, she retired during the Madrid P1 final against Triay and Claudia Fernández with a recurrence of the injury. It was her third injury in six months; during her layoffs she began a master's degree in physical re-adaptation and injury prevention, and she returned to competition at the World Championship in Doha in late October. In November the pair won the Dubai P1, their first title in 175 days, beating Andrea Ustero and Alejandra Alonso 6-2, 6-3. In December the pectoral trouble returned in the Milan P1 final and kept her out of the Premier Padel Finals, while Brea moved on to a new project for 2025.

2025: Claudia Fernández

For 2025 González partnered the 19-year-old Claudia Fernández; at 23, she was the senior member of a pairing for the first time, and was ranked No. 7 in April 2025. Their first title came at the Asunción P2 in May, beating Brea and Triay 7-6, 3-6, 6-2, and becoming the youngest pair to win a Premier Padel title. In July, González won the Málaga P1 at the Martín Carpena arena, a 6-2, 6-1 final against Ortega and Icardo, a year after withdrawing from the same tournament injured, and in September they took the Madrid P1, coming back to beat Triay and Brea 3-6, 6-1, 6-4 in the venue where González had retired injured a year earlier.

The pair ended the season with three titles in a row, in Dubai, Acapulco and Barcelona. The Acapulco Major, won 6-2, 6-4 against Triay and Brea, was González's first Major, and at the Premier Padel Finals they beat the same opponents 6-4, 0-6, 6-3. González won the Finals days after the death of her grandfather Chuzo, and dedicated the title to him. She closed 2025 with six titles from ten finals, ranked No. 3 in the pairs ranking and No. 5 individually.

2026–present: Paula Josemaría

González began the 2026 season with Paula Josemaría, the pair starting as the world No. 2 duo. They won four consecutive titles in the spring, the Miami P1, the NewGiza P2, the Brussels P2 and the Asunción P2, each final against Triay and Brea; the Asunción title, won 4-6, 6-3, 6-3, made González the winner of all three editions of the tournament played to that point. González rose to No. 3 in the FIP ranking in April 2026, overtaking Josemaría and Ariana Sánchez.

Spain national team

González debuted with the Spanish national team at the 2021 European Championship in Marbella, and was first called up for the World Championship in 2022. Spain won that championship in Dubai, beating Argentina 2-0 in the final; González and Ortega were lined up for the third match, which was not needed. At the 2024 championship in Doha she played the semifinal against Portugal with Alejandra Salazar, as Spain defeated Argentina in the final to take its ninth women's world title, the sixth in a row.
