About Aleksa Brđović
Born 1993. Aleksa Brđović is a Serbian volleyball player.
Aleksa Brđović (born July 29, 1993) is a Serbian volleyball coach and former player. A setter, he won gold with Serbia's national team at the 2016 FIVB Volleyball World League before a heart arrhythmia ended his playing career. He later became head coach of Radnički Kragujevac, winning four trophies with the club between 2025 and 2026, and in July 2026 was named head coach of Russian Super League club Orenburg — the first foreign head coach in the club's history. His father was Dejan Brđović, a Yugoslav international who captained the team to bronze at the 1996 Summer Olympics.
Playing career
Clubs Brđović began his senior career with Ribnica in 2009, before spells with Mladi Radnik (2010–2011) and Partizan (2011–2013). In 2013 he moved to Polish club PGE Skra Bełchatów. He won a title of Polish Champion 2014 with PGE Skra Bełchatów. On October 8, 2014, his team won ENEA Polish SuperCup 2014. On May 6, 2015, he won with PGE Skra Bełchatów bronze medal of Polish Championship. In May 2015 he left the Polish club for Russian side Gazprom-Ugra Surgut on a two-year contract. It proved to be his final club. As a youth international he won gold at the 2011 FIVB Volleyball Boys' U19 World Championship in Argentina. At senior level, he was part of Serbia's 14-man roster for the 2016 FIVB Volleyball World League final round in Kraków, where the team won its first-ever World League title.
End of playing career A few months after the 2016 World League triumph, a routine medical check with the national team revealed a cardiac arrhythmia. He spent roughly two to three years undergoing tests and attempting to return to competition, including surgery at the Dedinje clinic in Belgrade, but never played professionally again; his last competitive season was 2016–17 with Gazprom-Yugra, at age 24.
Coaching career In November 2021, Brđović joined the coaching staff of his hometown club, Radnički Kragujevac, under newly appointed head coach Željko Bulatović. He was promoted to head coach on 24 May 2022, at age 29.
Under Brđović, Radnički won the Serbian Cup and the Serbian championship in 2025 — the club's first league title in 15 years, since 2009–10 — followed by the club's first-ever Serbian Super Cup later that year. Radnički retained the championship in 2025–26, although the club lost that season's Serbian Cup final, played in Subotica, to Spartak Subotica.
In July 2026, Brđović was appointed head coach of Russian Super League club Orenburg, becoming the first foreign head coach in the club's history; his predecessor, Anton Volovik, remained with the club as his assistant.
