Adam Szal

Life as Bishop During the COVID-19 pandemic in Poland Szal cancelled all the planned First Communion events planned to take place in March and April, as well as all other public celebrations. Only private masses would be allowed in the archdiocese during that time period. On 1 April 2020 Szal recommended that the priest in the archdiocese of Przemyśl to donate half their income back to their parishes to help combat the economic troubles caused by the coronavirus.

During the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine, he stopped at the local train station to personally greet some of the incoming refugees from Ukraine; Poland shares a long border with the country and is receiving a significant number of them, along with Romania, Hungary, Bulgaria, and Moldova. Caritas in Poland and the Knights of Malta are trying to help them.
